TURKEY BOWLING TERMINOLOGY

Strike: Knocking all ten soda bottles down on the first turkey roll of a frame.

Spare: Knocking all ten soda bottles down with two turkey rolls in a frame.

Open Frame: Any frame in which a strike or spare is not made. Also known as "Ruining Thanksgiving".

Turkey: Rolling three strikes in a row during a single game. Also, the actual item you are rolling down the aisle.

White Meat: A fresh, clean turkey straight from the freezer.

Dark Meat: A turkey that has been used for several frames and has become dirty and worn. Also known as a "Ground Turkey"

Deep Fried: A turkey so heated by bowling friction that it actually begins to cook a little.

Drumstick Hook: Gripping the turkey by the left or right drumstick when rolling to create enough side-spin to make the turkey curve as it rolls toward the soda bottles.

Gobbler: A turkey bowler known for rolling the turkey with extreme force, making it hook more.

Gravy Boat: A turkey bowler known for timing and delivery as smooth as a Grandma's famous Thanksgiving gravy.

Gravy Gobbler: A turkey bowler who combines the high hooking power of a Gobbler with the smooth delivery and timing of a Gravy Boat. Also known as a "Tom Turkey".

Cold Cuts: Knocked over soda bottles laying amongst standing soda bottles.

Cold Cut Combo: Strategically using Cold Cuts to knock over standing soda bottles, resulting in a spare.

Basting: Using a lubricant like Vaseline or K-Y Jelly to lubricate the aisle or the turkey before bowling.

Stuffing: The illegal practice of filling a turkey with foreign elements such as ball bearings in order to make it heavier.

Tryptophantom: A bowled turkey that appears to hit the soda bottles perfectly yet is somehow too sleepy to result in a strike.

Fowl: A shot where the bowler's foot crosses the "fowl line" at the top of the aisle. Also, any of several domesticated or wild gallinaceous birds, including turkeys.

Cincinatti Split: A 7-9 or 8-10 split. Also known as a "Two Liter Tango".

Sour Apple Split: A 5-7-10 split. Also known as a "Corn Syrup Conundrum".

Fork and Knife: The 7-10 split, considered one of the most difficult to convert. Also known as "Tail Feathers" or "Candied Yams".

Pot Pie: The 4-6-7-8-10 or 4-6-7-9-10 split. Also known as a Club Sandwich.

Wild Turkey: A bowled turkey that ends up knocking any food item off the aisle shelves.

Talk Turkey: Talking trash to your opponents, i.e. "Your bird ain't got nothin' but beak, sucka!"

Turkey Trauma: Contracting salmonella from frequent handling of raw fowl, a common malady amongst turkey bowlers.
